The Tumble Kids Star System

At our gym, we believe every child deserves the chance to grow at their own pace, celebrate progress, and feel proud of their accomplishments. That’s why we’ve moved from “Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced” to a Level 1–9 system. This new structure gives families a clearer path forward and helps each gymnast experience success more often as they build new skills.

Why Levels 1–9?

How Kids Progress

How Kids Progress

Gymnastics is a step-by-step sport. Each skill lays the foundation for the next, so our levels are carefully designed to break down big goals into smaller, achievable milestones. This creates more opportunities for your child to celebrate growth and stay motivated.

How Kids Progress

Children start in the level that matches their current abilities, determined through coach placement or evaluation. Once they’ve mastered the skills for their level, they’re ready to move up! This progression ensures students are always being challenged while staying safe and confident.

Motivation Made Fun: Bracelet and Stamps

Motivation Made Fun: Bracelet and Stamps

To keep progress exciting, every gymnast will receive a  bracelet. Each time they master a new skill, they’ll earn a Stamp to cover the corresponding number on their band. It’s a simple, fun way for gymnasts to see their hard work pay off — and for parents to share in the celebration of each milestone.

What Parents Can Expect

Motivation Made Fun: Bracelet and Stamps

Every class focuses on more than just skills — we emphasize confidence, body awareness, strength, and perseverance. Each level builds on the last, so your child is always moving forward. Parents can expect to see steady progress, skill achievements, and an excitement for learning that carries beyond the gym.

Twinkles (Beginner Foundations)

Our Level 1 gymnastics class introduces children to the foundational shapes, rolls, balances, and jumps that form the building blocks of gymnastics. Students will explore forward rolls, bridges, basic cartwheels, and simple bar hangs in a fun, supportive environment. This level builds strength, coordination, and confidence while sparking excitement for gymnastics.

Shimmers (Building Basics)

Level 2 expands on beginner foundations with new balances, connected jumps, backward rolls, and early handstand progressions. Gymnasts also begin learning squat-on vaults, front supports on bars, and more challenging beam work. This stage helps students link skills together and develop stronger body control.

Sparkles (Skill Connections)

In Level 3, gymnasts progress to cartwheels on the floor, one-handed variations, kick-up handstands, backward rolls, and bridge kickovers. On bars, students learn baby casts and pullovers, while beam skills expand to levers and side handstand dismounts. This level marks an exciting shift from single skills to short skill series. Class length: 55 minutes.

Shooting Stars (Intermediate Foundations)

Level 4 introduces round-off progressions, handstand snap downs, bridge kickovers, dive rolls, and glides on bars. On the beam, gymnasts practice handstands, split jumps, and longer walking sequences. This level builds strength and flexibility while preparing students for advanced tumbling and bar work

Comets (Developing Power & Control)

Comets focuses on advancing tumbling with handstand holds, headstands, cartwheel variations, tick-tocks, and the first stages of back handsprings. Gymnasts learn straddle vaults, casts on bars, and cartwheels on low beams. This level is all about refining shapes, adding control, and gaining the power needed for higher-level skills.

Constellations (Intermediate Mastery)

Constellations  begin mastering walkovers, backward rolls to handstand, cartwheel-to-backward-roll connections, and round-offs to mats. Vaults include flat backs and handsprings, while bar skills progress to pullovers into casts. Beam work expands to cartwheels, split handstands, and full turns. This level transitions gymnasts into more fluid and connected skills.

Novas (Advanced Foundations)

Novas introduces aerial cartwheels, Valdez, round-off back handsprings, and front somersaults from mini tramp. On bars, gymnasts learn back hip circles and glide swings, while beam work includes leaps, backward walkovers, and front handspring dismounts. At this level, gymnasts start developing the confidence and power needed for advanced tumbling.

Galaxies (Advanced Progressions)

Galaxies athletes train back tucks, front layouts, straddle press handstands, round-off back handspring connections, and running front tucks. Vaults expand to front handsprings over the table, and bar work includes undershoots, mill circles, and back hip circle combinations. Beam skills advance to aerial dismounts, back walkovers, and connected jumps. This level prepares gymnasts for the highest recreational skills.

Cosmos (Elite Recreational)

Cosmos represents the peak of our recreational program. Gymnasts at this level perform front and back aerials, standing back tucks, back handspring series, and front handspring front tucks. On bars, athletes work kips, free hips, and cast handstands, while beam skills include back handsprings, front tucks, and advanced dismounts. This level is designed for gymnasts who want to master high-level skills outside of competitive team.
